Our mission is to teach that to be truly Catholic is also to be truly joyful.
The young do not only need to be taught the Truth of Jesus Christ: they need to love it. Our camps strive to fill each camper with this love through experiencing God's magnificence in the beauty of nature, and experiencing His Church through joy filled interactions with the clergy.
Saint John Bosco Camps (SJBC) seeks to glorify God through Catholic camps and wilderness experiences. SJBC works in collaboration with Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary to help young people and others grow in faith and virtue while experiencing God’s grandeur in His creation. SJBC seeks to teach the truths of Jesus Christ and preserve the sacred traditions of His Church in young people so that His joy might be in them, and their joy may be filled (Jn. 15:11).
"Behave manfully in the law: for by it you shall be glorious." I Mac. 2:64
Each of our four camps is staffed by Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminarians and has a Chaplain from the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP). The camps are organized and run by the seminarians and each year we host boys from all across the country.
The seminarians strive to build camps that balance faith formation with strenuous outdoor activities such as hikes and sports. Every day begins with Mass and morning prayers. Throughout each day the boys have catechism talks and trail side conversations with the seminarians. They build new friendships, learn about their own strengths and weaknesses and, we hope, leave more Christ-like than they came.
Currently we host three camps.
Collect from the Feast of the Chair of Saint Peter
O God, Who by giving the keys of the heavenly kingdom unto blessed Peter the Apostle, didst deliver unto him the power of binding and loosing; grant that, by the help of his intercession, we may be delivered from the bonds of our sins. Who livest and reignest with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end.
